Dear Starbucks Corporate Team,

I am writing as a consumer from South Korea who is concerned about the reputation and public image of Starbucks Korea.

Recently, there has been growing public controversy in Korea surrounding Shinsegae Group leadership and various social and political issues connected to Chairman Chung Yong-jin. Many consumers are increasingly questioning whether these controversies align with the global values and image that Starbucks represents worldwide.

In online communities and among customers, concerns have been raised regarding:

  • Repeated public controversies involving management behavior and statements
  • Social and political issues that have caused public backlash
  • Consumer distrust caused by controversial public actions and online activity
  • Concerns that Starbucks Korea may be negatively affected by association with these issues
  • Growing criticism that the current direction damages Starbucks¡¯ neutral and global brand image

Recently, discussions related to ¡°Tank Day¡± have further intensified these concerns among Korean consumers.

Starbucks has long been recognized globally as a brand representing diversity, inclusion, professionalism, and social responsibility. Because of this, many consumers in Korea are worried that continued controversies surrounding Shinsegae leadership could seriously damage the Starbucks brand image and customer trust.

I respectfully ask Starbucks headquarters to carefully review these concerns and pay close attention to how the Starbucks brand is being represented in Korea.
